What’s 2024 for You?
5 Tips from Jay Shetty to help you reframe how you view your year!

I’m a big fan of listening to podcasts, which I feel I can fit into my daily schedule easily. I came across an interesting podcast episode Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” and wanted to share the key takeaways.

✨ Each year can have a different feel, and according to Jay, a year can be: a learning year, a year of experimenting, a year of performing or a year of thriving. We usually put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make every year a thrive year that we sometimes end up just about surviving.

✨Jay then moves on with the conversation and directs us to reframe our thinking. Perhaps we’ve been giving too much and expelling all our energy that our tank is empty. Yet, we continue to grind and remain fixated on what makes us look good. However, it’s best if we take a step back to craft a plan to develop ourselves- to build a skill and eventually expand. If this is a learning year for you, it’s a year of coaching, a year of classes and a year of reading.

✨In the experiment year, we need a lot of openness. It’s a about testing the waters to see if what we’re about to delve into is what we actually want, and it’s about finding out what other skills we’re still missing. For instance, if someone wants to start a podcast, it’s a good idea to experiment with interviewing people.

✨In a performance year, we need a lot of commitment and consistency. Because we took the time to build the skill set we need and experiment, this phase is bound to feel more digestible. It’s as though we’ve been through “smaller” experiences that have given us a taste and prepped us for this time, so we approach it more confidently making us more likely to succeed.

✨Finally in a thrive year, we need humility and a lack of complacency as we’ve found our groove.

I plan to use this space to introduce the skills, the ideas and mindsets that will help us level up, so here’s the link for the full episode in case you’d like to listen to it:

Now, what is 2024 for you?
